Key Features of Eyelash Extension Glue

In our article "Chemical composition of the glue" we have analyzed in detail which chemical substances can be contained in the composition of the glue and how these substances can influence its quality.

In this article, we want to take a closer look at the main features of eyelash extension glue.

Hypoallergenic

To date, there is no hypoallergenic glue for eyelash extensions. Almost all modern adhesive formulas are based on cyanoacrylates. Cyanoacrylates are minimally toxic (some of them are used in medicine for gluing wounds), but a cumulative allergic reaction can occur with frequent contact with the glue. It doesn't matter whether you are a stylist or a customer, both are equally at risk.

The most common symptoms of an allergic reaction at the stylist are:

 - Dry chest cough

 - Edema of the nasopharynx

 - sneeze

 - Tear

 - Headache, dizziness

Clients may experience other symptoms. Remember to warn customers that an allergic reaction is possible.

We will describe in more detail the symptoms, cumulative effect, contraindications and preventive and protective measures in a separate article.

Viscosity

Eyelash extension glue can be thick or thin.

Viscosity is selected by each stylist herself, depending on personal preferences and convenience of work. To find out what is best for you, try different glues and decide for yourself. Ease of use has a positive effect on the speed of work.

Elasticity

An important criterion on which the wearing time (or the durability) of the eyelashes depends. The elasticity of the adhesive is regulated by adding softening substances such as PMMA. It affects the elasticity, density and speed of adhesion, but has no effect on the fumes. It is customary to assess the elasticity of the glue after it has completely dried. In order to reduce the strain on the natural lashes and extend the wearing time, the adhesive at the point where the artificial and natural lashes are glued must remain elastic.

Stick speed

Adhesion speed is the time it takes for the adhesive to polymerize and cure. This property describes the time during which the adhesive polymerizes and hardens. It is not uncommon for adhesives to be classified according to the adhesion speed, given in seconds:

 - 2-3 seconds

 - 1-2 seconds

 - 0.5-1 second

But these times are relative!

In our online shop we do not indicate the curing time of the glue in seconds, since the curing of any glue is highly dependent on the temperature and humidity in the room. The higher the humidity and the warmer, the faster the glue hardens. Since we cannot know exactly what percentage of humidity or what the room temperature is in your work area, it is impossible to give exact information about the speed of the glue! When choosing an adhesive, please refer to the description:

-"Fast" - provides instant attachment speed and is more suitable for stylists with years of experience, whose movements are precise and fast, as well as keep up with the glue. BANANA Glue is the fastest of the yaLASHes adhesives (thin, quick-drying and highly elastic).

 - "Medium Fast" - has a medium stick speed. It is well suited for stylists who are a little slower or for slightly higher temperatures or humidity.Among the yaLASHes adhesives, the yaLASHes TOP is one of the medium-fast adhesives. It is not so capricious to changing conditions in the room and is characterized by extremely long wearing times, as well as its "magnetic" properties.

  - "Slow" - ideal glue for beginners. With a slow sticking speed, there is time to correct deficiencies. In addition, such adhesives are ideal in heat and/or high humidity. Of the yaLASHes adhesives, the yaLASHes "DIAMOND" is the slowest.

How exactly each of our glue works (what happens under what conditions) can be found in the tables (on the photos) in the shop.

Wearing time

The wearing time depends on the proportion of cyanoacrylate (responsible for the adhesive strength) and the plasticizer (e.g. PMMA), which regulates the elasticity of the adhesive after curing. The better the ratio of these substances in the composition of the glue, the better and longer the eyelashes will last. On average, the gestation period varies between 4 and 8 weeks.

At the same time, one should not forget about the individual characteristics of the body, the health of natural eyelashes, the rules for caring for extended eyelashes and, of course, the skills of the stylist herself!

Colour

Eyelash extension glue can be either black or transparent. The most common glue is black. It is perfect for eyelash extensions with dark eyelashes. However, we also prefer a black adhesive for colored eyelash extensions, because this ensures a smooth color transition: darker at the base and lighter at the tips of the eyelashes. Transparent glue is used whenever when it is important to achieve the maximum saturated color.

Why is it important to read the composition of the glue and to be able to determine its properties?

Incorrectly selected glue can slow down the lengthening process, even for experienced stylists, reduce the quality of work and worsen the appearance of eyelash extensions, reduce the wearing time and, in general, cause disappointment among customers. Therefore, it is important to choose the highest quality and easy-to-use glue formulas.
